• Hand-knotted: Built knot by knot on a loom with no glue or secondary backing. The construction creates depth, flexibility and subtle variation across the surface, with the design visible on both sides of the rug. These are Double's first hand-knotted rugs.
• Fine cut pile: A dense, low cut pile that gives the rug weight underfoot and a soft, tactile surface while maintaining clear pattern definition.
• Tufted wool: Yarn is worked into a backing to create greater structure and sharper edges within the pattern, producing the strongest definition in the collection.

Savanna takes a different approach with recycled polyester fibres, combining a soft feel underfoot with easier maintenance, a non-shedding surface and a more accessible price point.

The wool rugs in the Animal Prints collection will shed, as all natural fibre rugs do. Shedding is usually most noticeable during the first four months before reducing to a lower ongoing level, and it does not affect the rug's durability or performance.

Double's anti-shed treatment helps minimise loose fibres, although some shedding remains a natural characteristic of wool.

If you would prefer a rug that does not shed, Savanna may be a better fit as it uses recycled polyester fibres instead.

• Are chenille rugs machine washable?

Yes. The chenille top layer can be removed and machine washed when required.

Every chenille rug uses Double Studio's two-part rug system, which separates the washable rug top from the grip base beneath it.

• How do you clean a chenille rug?

A simple routine is usually enough to keep chenille looking its best:

• Vacuum regularly to remove dust and dirt before they settle into the pile.
• Blot spills promptly using a clean cloth.
• Avoid rubbing spills, as this can push them further into the fibres.
• Wash the rug top when a deeper clean is required.

Every chenille rug consists of two separate components that work together as a single rug.

If deciding between two sizes, we generally recommend choosing the larger option. Rugs that extend beneath more of the furniture tend to create a more balanced and cohesive look within the space.

• Can you layer an animal print rug with other rugs?
